TMR Mixer                                                                                    

The TMR Mixer is an application designed for handheld computers using the Palm OS.  This application can be used to quickly adjust feed batch weights when a feed’s dry matter changes or if the quantity of a ration delivered to a pen is to be adjusted by a percentage.

Step 1     Indicate the rations

• Select -  N - (new) and indicate the name of the ration, followed by batch weight.
• Select – S – (save), this will save the ration to the database.  Repeat these steps for other rations.

Step 2     List feeds in the ration

• Select -  V - (view).  By selecting the V button in the upper half of screen you can scroll through the rations on file.  When the appropriate one appears, indicate the feeds that make up the ration along with the weight and dry matter percent.
• Select – S – (save) in the bottom corner after each feed is entered to save the feed within the selected ration shown above.
• Select – V – on the lower half of the screen to add the other feeds in the ration or to scroll through the existing feeds already entered.  Note that there is room for 15 feeds in each ration.

Step 3     Edit / Use program

Use the -V- button on the top half of the screen to find the ration.

• If you want to change the ration fed by a percent, for instance if you want to increase the amount delivered by 2 percent over yesterday, input a "2" in the "% Change" box.
• Select the -V- button in the lower half of the screen to see the change in weight of each feed to be mixed.
• If you only need to change the dry matter percent of a certain feed, for instance if the high moisture corn now being fed is 68 % dry matter rather than 71 %, input a 68 in the New DM% box and tap anywhere else on the screen.

These changes are saved automatically.

Step 4     Removing a feed or a ration

• Use the - V - button on top half of screen to find the ration. Select – D – (delete) to delete the selected ration on file.
• If you only want to remove a certain feed from a ration, for instance if you want to take hay out of a ration, use the V button on top half of screen to find the ration.
• Use the - V - button on the lower half of the screen to find the feed in the ration.
• Select – C – (clear) to pull the feed out.  Note that you will need to adjust the batch weight and other feed weights manually now.
