Fencing and Grazing Clinic set for Aug. 11 in northeast Iowa.

VINTON, Iowa – The popular Fencing and Grazing Clinic is back! This hands-on clinic addresses one of the biggest challenges in implementing any grazing system: the infrastructure. Join the Iowa Beef Center at the Etzel Sugar Grove Farm, 3706 St. Peters Rd, Marion, on Aug. 11.

A big theme of the program will be looking at technological advancements that have evolved to help producers leverage the benefits of rotational grazing systems with a little less labor. In addition, we’ll discuss how to build and adapt a rotational grazing system to meet an operation’s goals.

The schedule is as follows:

8:30 a.m.     Welcome!
9:00 a.m.     Breakout sessions
                        A: New Tools in Fencing
                        B: Building your Paddocks
Noon:           Lunch grilled by the Linn County Cattlemen
12:30 p.m.    Grazing Leases & Fence Law
1:15  p.m.     The options: Virtual Fencing
2:30 p.m.      Paddock system in action
4:00  p.m.     Adjourn

Speakers include cattle producers, extension specialists, an attorney, and industry partners. This program would not be possible without Laura Keniston, the Rodale Institute, Monil, Gallagher, Nofence, Iowa Forage and Grassland Council, Iowa Beef Industry Council, and the Linn County Cattlemen’s Association.

There is a $20 registration fee, and registering by Aug. 4 is appreciated. Register online at https://go.iastate.edu/5MSMOU or by calling 319-377-9839.
